here's the difference, dumbnips: Winda is Skill-locked, and better Skills are being released along with the cards that the old Skill used to keep hostage too. this means new Shaddoll decks will evolve past floodgate turbo, which is a good thing, even if it means subpar players like you will drop the deck because now you actually have to think about your combos and interactions.

Floodgates, no matter how "restricted" they are, always make the game objectively worse with their presence. I don't see how Speedroid Scratch being an Ultra Rare is annoying when in retrospect, you don't even need the card at all. I would argue that Speedroid Scratch is actually bait to get Speedroid mains to whale on the box without knowing any better. We already have a card that is essentially Speedroid Scratch, but much easier to obtain. The card in question that I am referring to is Wynn the Wind Channeler. Speedroid Scratch requires you to discard one Speedroid card to search one Speedroid monster from Deck to Hand, essentially a minus two to get your search. Conversely, Wynn the Wind Channeler requires you to discard her and another WIND monster (namely a Speedroid since they are all WIND), to search a Speedroid from Deck to Hand, namely your Terrortop if you didn't hard open it.

I guess what I'm saying here is I genuinely don't see any point in playing Speedroid Scratch when Wynn the Wind Channeler exists, a cheaper option. If you've been playing Speedroids, you should have three copies of Wynn the Wind Channeler anyway since she's your main starter and your main searcher to get you to your Terrortop + Taketomborg combo. If you don't have Wynn the Wind Channler, I recommend grabbing her from the Wings of Clearness minibox. I will say that Speedroid Scratch is only worth it for players who don't have Wynn, but otherwise the card is literally bait to get Speedroid players to whale for a searcher they literally don't even need. I'm going for one copy of Speedroid Scratch solely because I think the card art on it is funny (I love the Mickey Mouse hand), but otherwise I am praying to God I can go through this box thrice and not get three Speedroid Scratch to show for it. If I can dodge Speedroid Scratch after pulling one copy of it while getting three of everything else, I'm a happy camper.

Honestly a pretty good box if you're a Shaddoll main. Other than El Shaddoll Winda (who is still Skill-locked), Shaddolls are basically at full power now with no limitations, which is wild to me. I don't play the deck myself, but I'll still be whaling on this box thrice so I can at least have my x3 Alternate Art El Shaddoll Construct purchase be justified without the trash Shadow-Weaving Power Skill bricking me every three games. I am excited to learn what full power Shaddoll does from Sean Matrai though so that's exciting for me. I don't enjoy playing Shaddoll, but watching a good player on it is really fun. Now, the only cards Shaddolls are missing are El Shaddoll Winda, Shaddoll Zefracore, and Shaddoll Zefranaga. That is fine because El Shaddoll Winda is a really toxic floodgate so I understand Konami's refusal of releasing her as a permanent card. As for the other two cards, both Shaddoll Zefracore and Shaddoll Zefranaga are garbage. They don't do anything and Shaddoll isn't a Pendulum deck anyway so not having them is kind of just whatever. You can add Shaddoll Zefracore and Shaddoll Zefranaga to the game tomorrow and people won't even play them honestly. For what it's worth, Shaddoll is at full power. Shaddoll mains rejoice!

I also want to point out that I am pretty excited that Evil★Twin's Trouble Sunny is finally here. I have a friend in real life who really likes that card. She's also an Evil★Twin main and has a Japanese version of Evil★Twin's Trouble Sunny and believe me, she was in disbelief when I broke the news to her that Evil★Twin's Trouble Sunny is finally here in Duel Links. Thank God too because now Evil★Twin's don't have to go for non-archetypical Unchained Abomination lines. Evil★Twins now have their archetypical boss monster, which is always good. Evil★Twins aren't really doing much right now or seeing any play so them getting their boss monster is actually a good thing, albeit after a two year long wait. I'm excited to see what Evil★Twins do post Trouble Sunny support.

To close out the Chaos Voltage mainbox, we got some Speedroid support, some Utopia support, and the French cooking deck (Nouvelles). I don't expect Speedroids to change much since all they got was a new boss monster in Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. Utopia needs to be tested because I'm not going to read the new Skills until I test them myself. And as for Nouvelles, I have never read a single Nouvelle card in my life and have no idea what that deck does. If someone's cooking (quite literally) with Nouvelles, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what a Duel Links Nouvelles decklist looks like.

In the end, I will rate this box a solid 9.5 out of 10. I deducted half a point because Altergeists didn't get anything once again (not surprised), but hey I'll keep waiting for the eventual day when I do get my support. Other than that, this box is a pretty good one and I'm happy for those people that got the cards they wanted in this set release. I can say with absolute certainty that Shaddoll mains are eating good this box since their deck is at full power now, without a bad Skill holding their good cards hostage. I mean, I'll be real with you, it was obvious that out of everything in the Shaddoll toolkit, Shaddoll Fusion was going to be the card Konami chose to make Ultra Rare. They know Shaddoll is a fan-favorite deck that people will whale on and to ensure you go through the box thrice, the best way to go about doing that is to make a key card in your Shaddoll deck Ultra Rare. In this case, they went with Shaddoll Fusion because having three Shaddoll Fusion in a x20 card deck makes your Shaddoll deck insanely consistent. Not just that, but now your opponents have to be more wary about you hard opening Shaddoll Fusion and learn to play around it accordingly. Based on the teaser we got for the box, there was no way El Shaddoll Apkallone or Naelshaddoll Ariel were going to be Ultra Rare since you can make do with one to two copies of them at most. Shaddoll Fusion was clearly the card of choice to mark Ultra Rare in the box, you don't really need a crystal ball to have seen that coming.

I guess it goes without saying that for the future, we should all be aware that deck starters, extenders, and searchers are usually almost always going to be marked as high rarity to force players to run through the box multiple times. After all, look at my Meluseek. She is a starter and also doubles back as a searcher and as a result, Meluseek was marked as mainbox Ultra Rare. Shaddoll Fusion is no different. It's the main starter for Shaddoll decks, can be disruption, and can be an extender as well. It's all around an amazing card and the "all-rounder" of the deck.

I'm personally going to be going for my three copies of Shaddoll Fusion, but if you're on a budget, that's a big yikes. Shaddoll got the Sky Striker treatment where you need multiple box runs from different boxes to build the deck. It's kind of criminal how El Shaddoll Construct wasn't reprinted anywhere outside of the Anniversary Box Volume Two (Alternate Art), so you kind of have to also double back and go to the Phoenix Blaze mainbox to grab your x3 El Shaddoll Construct too if you don't already have it. At least in the case of El Shaddoll Construct, she's an old card and you can Dream Ticket for that, so it's not the worst thing ever. It's still a big yikes for Shaddoll though, the deck's insanely expensive, even more-so since Shaddoll Fusion is now confirmed to be mainbox Ultra Rare. Best of luck on your pulls either way though if you are going in on this Chaos Voltage mainbox. =)

Luckily in my case, I actually got 1 Alt art Construct from a free anniversary box pull so I only had to run through the Phoenix box 1 1/2 times to get the other 2. It’ll take me a while but eventually I’ll get my 2-3 Fusions and make it work from there. The dolls will in fact be dolling, Trust!

Dude that's some major copium thinking they'd give us mirrorjade before lenatus, sanctifire, or lubellion xD it's Konami we're taking about xD tbh I was pretty disappointed by how many branded cards we're getting.....even with the branded skill (which looks bad), i dont think branded is going to do very well atm. But I could be wrong they may do really well with the dogmatika engine but the skill restricts your normal summons so you can't even ns a 1k monster (sangan) go almaraji>secure garda> ecclesia>maximas> rip extra deck and pray you open dogmatika encounter so you can ss albaz in your opponents turn. Springans skill does what branded skill is trying to do but better.
