Notes & Combos

Guru is one of my favorite decks ever in the tcg. It’s in a special category of decks I like to refer to as “archetypal stun” which consists of numerous floodgates backed up by an archetypal engine that cycles resources and generates advantage over the course of the game. This is my absolute favorite type of deck and a lot of people’s most hated. Much like qliphort, true draco, and other decks like this however, duel links’ lack of floodgates and smaller deck size means you are left with just the advantage engine making it a very low to the ground grindy control strategy that is a blast to play. I really enjoyed this climb.

Nemesis archer was great as removal and a way for guru to effectively search more of himself in case you lose him. Cave clash was really good for long games where I actually did run out of fiendesses and as an additional interruption as long as you have final battle to flip guru back up which you usually always do because of the skill. I didn’t play ultramafus because I felt umastryx was more than enough for dealing with endboards and I feel I was right. For the entire climb except for the last 5 games I only had 1 hidden city and it was fine. If you want to play a budget build with only 1 you definitely can. I would never play warrior even with 1 city however because he sucks. Super poly is broken always play it.
